Historias de Zapiguri
Letterpress artist book. edition of 3, acquired by the Joan Flasch Artist's Book Collection.
A personal project inspired by a family story taking place in the small Mexican village, Zapiguri. This project is based on a particular instance where my grandmother, Emiteria, a single mother of four, scaled up the mountains with my mother and her siblings. Under treacherous conditions, they trekked up the mountain to go to the neighboring town. The structure of the book references the mountain and the story's text moves up with each page following the footsteps of the characters.
